Newcastle cruise port, the Port of Tyne, has seen a steady increase in cruise ships and passengers over the past few years and is home to one terminal with two berths. Cruise lines that regularly homeport their ships here include Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, Cruise and Maritime Voyages and Marella Cruises.

Whilst they won’t have had the infrastructure available today, the Romans were the first to establish a port along the River Tyne, meaning there is plenty of history to be uncovered here. The port is around 20 minutes’ drive from Newcastle city centre and is also within zone C of the metro system. A courtesy bus is available to take you to the nearest station. If you realise you’ve forgotten something, the shops of the nearby Royal Quays outlet centre will have you covered for most things.
