Since earning the honour of the UK’s City of Culture for 2017, Hull has undergone a rejuvenation, helping it to become an important departure point for cruisers in the middle of the country. Millions of pounds have been injected into this renaissance and discussion are still ongoing regarding a new cruise terminal to help cater for a larger number of vessels. One possible location for the project is close to The Deep, a state-of-the-art aquarium that is also a recent addition to the waterfront area.
Departing from the Humber River, cruises from Hull are well placed to take you across to Scandinavia, the Baltic or further south to warmer climes. As well as cruise ships, you may also see the regular ferries that take travellers direct to Zeebruge or Rotterdam. Arrive in plenty of time and you can take the short trip into the centre and explore Philip Larkin’s adopted city.
