P&O Cruises has a couple of changes happening this year, including the release of the entertainment aboard Iona, a multimillion-pound refit for Azura and the celebrity line up for Britannia.
Here’s everything you need to know about these exciting changes and how you can get involved.
Iona is said to conduct three new aerial shows for her maiden voyage around the Norwegian Fjords, from Southampton on 14th May 2020. Inside her futuristic SkyDome, three different shows, Rise, Triboo and Dream will take centre stage. During these spectacles, passengers will get close-up and personal with fascinating acrobatic performances set to music.
P&O Cruises agreed to a partnership with Creativa, a Canadian entertainment company for this to be possible. This partnership has also allowed the cruise line to have two more shows, Spark and Virtuosi, on Iona’s second season that starts in September 2020.
During the day, Iona’s 5,200 passengers can enjoy panoramic views of the passing oceans when inside the two-deck SkyDome. However, in the evenings, it’ll come alive with brightly-coloured costumes, awe-inspiring magic and even birds.
Another exciting entertainment program you may wish to front row seats for is Gary Barlow performing in the 710 Club. The former member of Take That is P&O Cruises Brand Ambassador and therefore taking to the sea as a musical director to provide guests with that spine tingling feeling.
P&O Cruises’ beloved Britannia is going to sail the Caribbean in the winter and Western Europe and the Mediterranean during summer, with a few familiar faces joining in the fun. The TV presenter and wine expert Olly Smith is going to be onboard the 14-night sailing around Western Europe, embarking on 20th June 2020. He’s taking part in wine tasting sessions, intimate dinners in the Glass House and a Q&A.
Master Pâtissier, Eric Lanlard is hopping onboard Britannia’s two Mediterranean sailings across July and August. He aims to provide all 3,600 guests with an array of sweet treats during their 2-week-long cruise. They’ll have the opportunity to visit Cadiz, Barcelona, Malaga and many more beautiful destinations.
Fans of MasterChef and Hell’s Kitchen may find themselves booked onto the 14-night, Spain and France sailing embarking on 1st August 2020. Marco Pierre White is making an appearance and hosting masterclasses and dinners that showcase his best work.
The final celebrities to keep an eye out for are the Strictly Come Dancing cast. On selected sailings from 27th June 2020, you could find yourself surrounded by six talented dancers including, Dianne Buswell, Gorka Marquez and Oti Mabuse. Shirley Ballas will also make an appearance as a judge, so don’t forget your dancing shoes.
Azura is going into dry dock in Ferrol, northern Spain, on 3rd April 2020 for 12 days. Seeming as her last refurbishment was five years ago, it was clear it was time to update her to the same standard as her sister ships. This multi-million-pound makeover will include upgrading the bathrooms, beds, interior style, lights and woodwork inside all of the cabins.
Azura’s restaurants, entertainment areas and the children’s club will be renovated and receive new carpets and furniture, as well as other soft furnishings to appear modern. The Blue Bar, Brodie’s, Malabar and Terrace Bar will have draft beer on tap, ready for her next cruise on 19th April 2020.
The Oasis Spa and Retreat will both be more enticing than before with new treatments and spa experiences on offer. Her open deck areas will be redesigned with new canopies and deck furniture to maximise sun spots.
